  • August 2023: LOQM PhD student Debanita gives tutorial and a lab demonstration at the IEEE Workshop on Fiber Optics. Debanita’s lucid explanations of complicated concepts was very well received among all attendees which included masters, PhD students as well as faculty members.

  • May 2023: Our lead PI, AK delivers a talk at the VNIT event, Enlightenment — 2023, organized on the occasion of the International Day of Light, May 16th, 2023. The talk was about Machine Learning with Photonics.

  • October 2022: LOQM PhD students, Vikas and Nihar present their research in the prestigious Frontiers in Optics conference organized by Optica.

  • August 2021: LOQM grad student, Mr. Anuj Kumar Singh presents his research on the development of low cost and large scale superhydrophobic substrates for highly efficient sensors based on Raman spectroscopy in SPIE 2021 Optics+Photonics conference.  
  • June 2021: AK delivers an invited talk on our group’s recent work on engineering spontaneous valley coherence in the National Conference of Low Dimensional Materials organized by UM-DAE CEBS and Materials Research Society of India.
  • March 2021: A detailed and easy to understand coverage of our research on deep learning for photonic design (led by our LOQM student, Abhishek Mall). This article formed a part of IIT Tech Ambit‘s February issue on the applications of artificial intelligence.
  • February 2021: AK presents a tutorial on “Nanophotonics with 2D materials” in the AICTE-AQIS sponsored (online) Short Term Training Program (STTP) on Recent Advances in Nano-Photonics Technology” . The tutorial was attended by faculty members as well as graduate students as part of the AICTE Quality Improvement Schemes (AQIS) which provides assistance to various Institutions for improvement in quality of education.
  • January 2021: AK presents a tutorial on “Polaritons for Nanoscale Optics” in the Short Term Course on “Integrated Optics” organized by Punjab Engineering College in collaboration with IEEE Chandigarh Subsection. The tutorial was attended by faculty members as well as graduate students as part of Technical Education Quality Improvement Program – III.
  • December 2020: Research carried out by LOQM student, Abhishek Mall on nanophotonic metasurface design using deep learning covered on IIT Bombay Research Highlights.

  • November 2019: Abhishek Mall, pursuing his masters thesis with LOQM on Deep Learning for Nanophotonic Inverse Design presents his work at the COMSOL 2019 conference. Abhishek is co supervised by Prof. Amit Sethi.

  • May 2019: LOQM graduate student Ms. Lekshmi Eswaramoorthy wins OSA grant to attend the prestigious Siegman School on Lasers at the University of Rochester.
  • May 2019: LOQM Masters student Anand Kumar wins first prize in poster presentation in Nano India 2019.
  • March 2019: Mumbai – Pune Semiconductor Meeting is being organized by AK together with Prof. Dhar and Prof. Mahapatra from IIT Bombay on 2nd March, 2019. The meeting is meant to foster collaboration between research institutes in the Mumbai Pune region.
  • December 2018: AK delivers a talk in the Global Nanophotonics Conference at TIFR, highlighting our recent work on valley plasmons.
  • November 2018: Workshop on capacity building in theory and practicals for post graduate teachers in Physics. Around 36 teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools attended this from Mumbai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad regions. AK led an interactive session on the topic of wave optics at the Zonal Institute of Education and Training.
